Here my mother Mary Joscelyne sits with her famous Christmas Cake. Mary-Jane used to sell the Cakes and has given 150 cakes at some Christmases as presents. Mary-Jane sits her with her also famous Christmas pudding and her mother famous Chocolate Never-fail Cake which many family members in all directions make. You can also see chocolate pudding which is also from he mother CONSTANCE and the most delicious Chocolate Sauce. The sandwiches are chicken which are Mary-Janes favourite and she has served at many lunches and picnics.
The photo also has her mother recipe box, her grandmothers recipe book "The Herald Recipe Book" for the Queen Victoria Hospital Melbourne.
The other book is her great Aunt "Lady Hackett" HouseHold GuideBook.
My mother and these ladies have inspired me to put together this Portrait Exhibition and Cookbooks.
CONSTANCE taught Mary-Jane and shared all her recipes that Mary-Jane still uses today. Constance Chocolate Neverfail Chocolate cakes is very famous and many family members still cook her Cake today. Constance is Mary-Janes mother and Mary-jane has her recipe box with all the recipes typed onto cards. CONSTANCE was a very good cook and she taught her daughter and her sons wife how to cook and prepare family meals. CONSTANCE has a Milk brand named after her. She started a Milk Run in Whyalla in South Australia in the 1930's.Many of CONSTANCES recipes which have been shared with many family members will be shared in the Cookbook. #australiahouse
Lady Hackett's (Household Guide was first published in 1940 in Melbourne and became a best seller around Australia. Lady Hackett gathered many of Melbourne finest cooks and entertainers cooks chefs and Australian Companionships ys of the day. The book is an incredible look into the 1930's and - 1940's Melbourne and Australian way of life. LADY HACKETT 'S Household Guide will feature in the Cookbook.. #australiahouse
CONSTANCE penned and produced one of Melbournes favourite Cookbooks and still being used to this day. Constance produced the Herald Queen Victoria Hospital Cookbook. It has her family and friends recipes and has been haded down through generations. Constance was a wonderful host and wife. Constance worked tirelessly to help people. Constance Cookbook handed down through her family her daughter Constance Mary and her grand daughter Mary-Jane have now been using the Cookbook for 87 years and the fourth generation is now learning of her recipes. The recipes from her book are being included in the 2020 Cookbook. #australiahouse
